About the Role

We’re hiring a full-time, in-house WordPress Developer to join our Cincinnati office. This is not a remote position . You’ll work directly with our creative team and face-to-face with clients to build, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve high-performing WordPress websites.

Your mission: ensure every Killerspots-hosted site is up-to-date, blazing fast, visually impressive, and driving results. You’ll be the go-to for clients and internal teams on all things web.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and manage responsive, conversion-optimized WordPress websites.

  • Regularly audit, update, and maintain all client sites (plugins, themes, security, speed).

  • Troubleshoot downtime and resolve issues proactively.

  • Work directly with clients in person and over the phone to understand goals, present ideas, and execute vision.

  • Develop custom themes and plugins when needed (you write clean, scalable code).

  • Optimize for SEO, performance, UX, and mobile-first design.

  • Collaborate with the creative and marketing teams to execute branding and campaign strategies online.

  • Stay current with WordPress releases, security updates, and emerging tech.

Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • 3+ years of proven WordPress development experience (portfolio required).

  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL .

  • Demonstrated experience developing custom themes and modifying plugins.

  • Experience with performance optimization (caching, CDN, image compression).

  • Understanding of UI/UX principles.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills—you’ll be client-facing.

  • Solid troubleshooting skills with a proactive mindset.

  • Able to work onsite, Monday through Friday, at our Cincinnati office.

  • Highly organized and accountable. You take ownership.

Bonus Points For:

  • WooCommerce experience

  • SEO optimization expertise

  • Familiarity with Git and version control

  • Experience in agency or fast-paced multi-client environments

  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG)
