Hours: 35–42 per week

MMD Shops Long Beach is looking for a motivated and reliable  Shift Lead to support daily store operations and elevate the customer experience. Our Shift Leads play a key role in driving strong team performance, maintaining compliance, and representing the MMD brand with professionalism and care.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about leadership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to grow within an established and respected cannabis company.

Shift Lead at MMD Developmental opportunities 

• Leadership development through mentorship :  you will learn additional leadership skillsets through management meetings, coaching and development through working side by side with the general manager and additional MMD training materials.
• Product knowledge growth: Ongoing trainings, vendor education sessions, and hands-on learning to help you develop deep cannabis knowledge and confidently guide customers and staff.
• Community involvement: Opportunities to participate in MMD-sponsored volunteer events, local partnerships, community outreach events with non profits , and even some neighborhood outreach initiatives.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Sales Floor

• Greet customers professionally and ensure a positive, welcoming environment.
• Oversee the sales floor, delegate tasks, and coordinate staff breaks.
• Support daily cash-handling procedures, including counting down drawers.

Guide and Support the Team

• Coach team members on customer engagement and product recommendations.
• Provide constructive feedback 
• Ensure all employees complete and retain product knowledge trainings, keep the store employees productive , and making sure all staff adheres to company-required compliance expectations.

Maintain Operational Excellence

• Assist with stocking, merchandising, and maintaining visual standards aligned with MMD’s presentation policies.
• Support inventory counts and ensure proper handling, organization, and labeling of products.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant sales environment.
• Report any customer or employee safety concerns promptly to management.

General Expectations

• Uphold MMD’s brand values and commitment to customer care.
• Demonstrate strong product knowledge to guide customers in making informed decisions.
• Be punctual, reliable, and compliant with uniform and appearance policies.
• Follow all DCC, METRC, Health, Safety, Operations, and Security protocols.
• Execute opening and closing procedures to safeguard employees, cash, product, and the store.
• Motivate the team and reinforce MMD’s mission of service, community, and safe access.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to move or lift up to 20 lbs.

Shift Requirements

• 8-hour shifts
• Morning and evening availability required

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License or ID (Required)
• Ability to reliably commute to Long Beach, CA 90806 (Required)
• Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and leadership mindset
• Interest in cannabis, product education, and community involvement
