The Maritime Systems Division at Leidos is excited to announce an opening for a Materials Management Specialist. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in a dynamic engineering environment focused on rapid prototyping of innovative systems. Join our dedicated team, where you will take on complete technical responsibility for custom development and prototyping across various technical disciplines. Our collaborative efforts encompass identifying real-world challenges, developing concepts, engaging in iterative design and testing, and ultimately culminating in immersive product demonstrations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive materials and manage goods receipts to ensure full material traceability and adherence to corporate and customer requirements.
  • Maintain an organized and safe stockroom environment to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee packaging and shipping processes via UPS and freight carriers, ensuring all documentation and labels meet compliance standards.
  • Handle program requests for internal and external shipments of equipment.
  • Strategize and coordinate the movement of goods to effectively meet customer demands.
  • Assemble kits and subassemblies based on Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical drawings.
  • Reconcile inventory with digital records to ensure 100% accuracy across multiple storage locations.
  • Manage Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) with vendors, promptly resolving discrepancies and securing credits or replacements.
  • Plan and coordinate the transportation of goods to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in team meetings to support project planning and deadlines.
  • Provide logistics support to ensure timely delivery of packages as requested.
  • Prepare Department of Defense (DoD) documentation (DD-1149) and Leidos packing slips to comply with government and corporate standards.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to facilitate project logistics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a minimum SECRET security clearance; active clearance preferred.
  • High School Diploma with at least 3 years of related work experience, including proficiency in inventory database software and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Experience with online database entry, updates, and lookups.
  • Strong computer and research skills.
  • Ability to use office equipment and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication.
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal and customer management and staff.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in DoD or Military Logistics.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Familiarity with basic Microsoft Programs.
