Position Summary:
Hillstone Pharmacy is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Compounding Technician to join our team. The Compounding Technician will be responsible for preparing nonsterile and sterile compounded medications in accordance with USP <795> , <797> , and <800> standards, as well as state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to quality, safety, and compliance, and will work collaboratively with pharmacists and other team members to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare compounded sterile and nonsterile preparations (CSPs and CNSPs) following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and USP guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized compounding environment, including routine cleaning and disinfection of work areas and equipment as required by USP <797> and <800> .
  • Accurately document all compounding activities, including batch records, cleaning logs, and quality control (QC) checks.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs, including environmental monitoring, sampling, and testing.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of hazardous drugs (HDs) per USP <800> .
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving, labeling, and storing compounding materials and supplies.
  • Report any deviations, errors, or quality concerns to the designated person or supervisor promptly.
  • Participate in required training and competency assessments, including aseptic technique, garbing, and cleaning procedures.
  • Support the pharmacy team in maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Current pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) and state licensure preferred.
  • Previous experience in a compounding pharmacy or sterile compounding environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of USP <795> , <797> , and <800> standards is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.
