American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position in an acute care Level 1 trauma setting requiring AZ or compact RN licensure and advanced cardiac skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Position is based in a float pool covering all Telemetry and MedSurg units in an acute hospital setting
  • Patient populations include post-cath, vascular procedures, neuro post-surgical, spine, CVA, ortho, surgical, and oncology patients—adults and patients 15 years or older
  • Typical patient ratios are 1:3-4 on Telemetry and 1:4 on MedSurg units
  • Required to work 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) with at least 4 weekend shifts per schedule and coverage for 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Floating required between Tele, Cardiac Tele, Neuro Tele, MedSurg units, and observation/holding areas, including possible float between two campuses (approx. 9 miles apart)
  • Use of Cerner EMR is required
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Vents are not managed on these units and no pediatrics are assigned
  • RNs provide telemetry care, manage post-procedure patients, and titrate cardiac medications as ordered
  • Support staff includes Patient Care Techs with a ratio of 1:16 and charge nurses without patient assignments
  • Hospitalist available in-house by day and on call at night; 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy support
  • First to float is required within and sometimes between campuses; floating notifications given 1.5 hours prior to shift
  • Orientation includes two 12-hour floor shifts as standard, in addition to system-specific simulation and clinical tests
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from facility per AZ state rules
  • Failure of required clinical testing will result in removal from assignment with a six-month ineligibility for the system
  • Spectralink phones are provided for call light and communication on MedSurg units
\n \n Requirements\n
  • Active AZ or compact RN license in hand; pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years’ recent telemetry or acute care RN experience
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Ability to titrate cardiac drips and interpret EKGs is mandatory
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (maximum 2 attempts) prior to contract, and a pass/fail Sim Lab on orientation day
  • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the last 3 years
  • Candidates must not have been employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
