• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908 (Virginia nursing jobs)\n
• Setting: Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)\n
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 4/6/2026)\n
• Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:00)\n
• Hours per Week: 36\n
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1840–$1890\n
• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract\n
• Patient Census: 54-bed NICU\n
• Orientation: 36 hours\n
• Flu Vaccine: Required (No exemptions)\n

\n\nNICU Registered Nurse Qualifications\n

\n
• Minimum 2 years of recent full-time Level III NICU RN experience (Level IV highly preferred)\n
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state; VA license accepted pending, must be in-hand before start date)\n
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required\n
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate (can submit with pending, must obtain before start)\n
• Epic EMR charting experience preferred\n
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred\n
• Professional references required\n
• Ability to float to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery (L&D "baby catcher")\n
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays; Christmas RTO (12/24-12/25) not approved\n
• Must be able to work 3 weekends in a 6-week scheduling period\n

\n\nNICU RN Responsibilities\n

\n
• Deliver expert nursing care to neonates and infants with complex diagnoses, including extreme prematurity and cardiac anomalies\n
• Operate and manage advanced NICU equipment: ECMO, Drager ventilators, HFOV/HFJV, bCPAP, Arctic Sun\n
• Assist with specialized neonatal procedures: intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement, umbilical line placement, chest tube placement\n
• Provide post-operative care, whole body cooling, and hemodynamic support for critically ill infants\n
• Perform IV fluid management, medication calculations, and ABG interpretation\n
• Conduct wound, drain, and line care; ostomy care; CVL dressing changes\n
• Float within scope to L&D, Mother Baby/Postpartum, Pediatrics, and PICU for infant care as needed\n
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, and social services\n
