Overview High School Chemistry Teacher (SY25-26) at Salem Academy Charter School – join our team to support a rigorous college preparatory program for students in grades 6-12. Salem Academy Charter School (SACS) is a nationally ranked urban charter school north of Boston, MA serving nearly 500 students. Since 2004, SACS has been committed to serving the diverse population of Salem through a combination of rigorous college preparatory classes and service to the community. Responsibilities Align curricular standards with state guidelines and document annual, unit, and lesson plans correlated to state standards. Monitor student progress through standards-based assessments; analyze student data; differentiate instruction as needed. Teach four classes per day and contribute to a school culture of excellence and joyful learning. Plan, deliver, and co-lead Service-Learning projects; advise students through daily Connections (homeroom). Input academic and behavioral data into the school data management system and monitor progress through assessments. Collaborate with families: participate in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences three times per year and communicate regularly about academic and social progress. Collaborate with colleagues to build a strong school culture centered on student achievement; participate in weekly professional development and grade-level meetings. Who You Are You are a skilled educator with at least 2 years of experience teaching any STEM courses; experience teaching high school science is preferred. You have experience implementing a culturally responsive curriculum. You are committed to standards-based teaching and learning; you work to build student-centered learning environments. You respond proactively to the academic and social-emotional needs of students. You have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student body and are values-aligned. You are passionate about Salem Academy Charter School’s mission and vision, and recognize the assets and community cultural wealth of all students, families, and staff. You have experience fostering inclusive practices and maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful classroom and school culture. Qualifications Belief in the mission and vision of the school.
